Most of these photographs were made after the end of a relationship. I wasn’t trying to tell that story or explain what had happened. I simply noticed that I had started seeing people and places differently. Everything felt a little farther away, as if life had shifted by a small distance that couldn’t be measured.
Without realizing it, I also became drawn to whatever stood between me and the world. Looking back, I see glass, reflections, frames, and small distances appearing again and again. They weren’t symbols I chose. They were simply the way I had begun to see.
Photography became a way to stay present. It didn’t remove the feeling, but it gave it somewhere to exist outside of me. The series isn’t about separation itself. It’s about learning to live with the quiet space between what was and what comes next.
